Demographics of the Speakers (N=24)

The speakers hail from various regions of Mexico (see PDF below for details). There are 16 female and 8 male interviewees with ages ranging from 25 to 60. Additionally, their lengths of residency (LOR) in the U.S. range from 2 to 25 years (average = 13), and their ages of arrival (AOAs) range from 11 to 56 (average = 26). In terms of education levels, they range from primary school to university. Their English proficiency ranges from very poor to good. English proficiency was measured using speakers’ self-ratings on a scale from 1 (very poor) to 5 (very good), with an average rating of 2.71.
